The reason VAs should get royalties before devs is because devs have a constant stream of income (hourly or yearly salary; ignoring the fickle employers who like to fire devs). VAs are contracted, and only work on the game maybe one or two workdays. If the game is very successful, the studio makes more money, and the devs get bonuses or raises, but the VAs get nothing, because they don’t work for the studio. VAs simply want a little extra pay, as well, if the game does well.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for pointing that out!
